A pre-event massage is a type of sports massage specifically designed to prepare your body for physical activity—whether it’s a competition, race, match, or intense training session. It’s similar to regular sports massage in technique, but the focus is on activating muscles, improving circulation, and boosting performance, rather than recovery or deep tissue work.
It’s fast-paced, stimulating, and designed to help you feel loose, focused, and physically ready to perform at your best.
At D2 Sports Massage, your pre-event massage will be tailored to your sport or activity and how close you are to your event (typically within 24 hours of performance).
You’ll stay in comfortable sportswear. The session is shorter than a typical massage—usually around 15–30 minutes—and includes:
-Quick, rhythmic strokes to warm up the muscles
-Percussion and tapotement techniques to stimulate the nervous system
-Stretching and mobilisations to loosen joints and improve flexibility
-Targeted work on key muscle groups used in your sport
The aim is to wake up the muscles, increase blood flow, reduce stiffness, and get you mentally and physically prepared to perform—without causing fatigue or soreness.
Pre-event massage is ideal for:
-Athletes preparing for competition or intense training
-Runners, cyclists, or triathletes before races
-Team sport players (football, rugby, etc.) before matches
-Gym-goers preparing for PBs or strength tests
